Neusoft COO predicts Rmb10bn for health care IT

Liu Jian, VP and COO of Neusoft, claims that healthcare reforms will lead to more than Rmb10 billion of investment in medical devices and services during the next three years, as China moves swiftly expand and improve its health-care delivery system. Liu made the prediction at the 62nd China Medical Equipment Fair held from Oct. 28-31 in Chengdu, which attracted attracted 2,100 exhibitors, including GE, Siemens, Philips and other global health-care IT heavyweights.

Liu said Health Information Services (HIS) in China's Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities will be upgraded in the coming two years, leading to an increase in demand for medical devices and related software and services. Of the Rmb850 billion to be spent on reforming and improving China's health-care system, Liu believes at least Rmb10 billion will be spent on HIS.

Liu also argued that another niche market for HIS in the coming three years will be home healthcare management services delivered through remote monitoring devices.
